Volunteers of America Michigan Announces Aubrey Macfarlane as New President and CEO

I’m excited for the future of VOAMI with Aubrey at the helm. She brings to the agency a wealth of experience in social services, compliance, strategic planning, and program expansion. I’m confident that under her leadership, VOAMI will only continue to expand the vital services we provide to our communities.

Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) a nonprofit agency that specializes in providing critical services to in-need people in Michigan, will welcome Aubrey Macfarlane, LMSW as President and CEO beginning Jan. 9, 2023. Macfarlane’s addition to the team will be critical in the nonprofit organization’s trajectory to make a positive difference in the lives of those the organization serves.

Macfarlane will be instrumental in providing strategic leadership and overall direction to VOAMI, as well as overseeing the development and administration of programs and operational activities for the 360-employee statewide agency. She will succeed current president and CEO, Alex Brodrick, upon his retirement in February 2023.

“After 40 years of service to Volunteers of America, I am ready to pass the torch,” said Brodrick. “Aubrey’s vast experience in the human services field is an excellent fit for the role. I am confident that she will implement direction and leadership that will propel this organization to the next level.”

A licensed macro and clinical social worker, Macfarlane joins VOAMI with over 20 years of experience as a dedicated human services professional. She will be transitioning to VOAMI from her role as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President at Gesher Human Services (previously JVS Human Services and Kadima Mental Health). Macfarlane currently serves on the Board of the Livonia Public Schools Education Foundation, and previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Kennedy-Donovan Center in Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Social Work, both from the University of Michigan. Macfarlane resides in Livonia, Michigan.
