Patricia Ann Dowell is being remembered as a champion for the homeless of Lansing, the person who made it possible for Volunteers of America Michigan to move to its current home on North Larch Street. She was known as "Colonel Pat," because she came to Volunteers of America at a time when titles at the agency still were based on military ranks. The hat and medal at left were hers. Read more about her life of service.
More than 162,000 people have been blessed over the years by this program, which brings together people in need with those willing to help. Families who want to provide the basics for their kids. Seniors a step from homelessness. Veterans struggling to return to civilian life. Find out how you can get involved.
