Volunteers of America Michigan joined veterans in Corktown for Detroit’s annual Veterans Day Parade, honoring those who have served and highlighting the organization’s year-round support through housing, employment, and community programs.

After experiencing homelessness in Detroit, Army veteran Ellis Martin found stability through Volunteers of America Michigan. With guidance from his case manager, he secured permanent housing and began rebuilding his life—proof that compassion and support can help veterans turn the page toward a brighter future.

U.S. Air Force veteran Gaylord Jones regained his independence with help from Volunteers of America Michigan and Street Democracy, who guided him through the Homeless Court program to resolve legal barriers and rebuild his life.

Army veteran Troy Young rebuilt his life with the support of Volunteers of America Michigan’s housing, employment, and mental-health programs and now gives back as a member of their team.
