“I am writing to express my support for the St. Mary of Redford Supportive Housing Project by Volunteers of America Michigan. This initiative is a tremendous opportunity to provide safe, stable housing for unhoused individuals and families while also revitalizing a property that has suffered from disrepair.
For over 20 years, the property at St. Mary of Redford School has endured looting, vandalism, and decay. Adaptive reuse for permanent supportive housing will provide an opportunity for individuals to rebuild their lives, gain independence, and restore their dignity. A secure place to live is the foundation for stability, and this development will stand as a beacon of new beginnings for its future residents.
Not only will this project benefit those in need, but I also believe it will positively impact the surrounding neighborhood. Transforming this dormant site into a thriving residential space will contribute to the area’s overall improvement, and Volunteers of America Michigan remains diligent in addressing community concerns to ensure this effort is carried out thoughtfully and responsibly.
I fully support this plan and encourage others to do the same. The St. Mary of Redford Supportive Housing Project represents an investment in hope, a commitment to progress, and a brave step toward a stronger community.”
