In addition to being one of the largest national human services organizations, Volunteers of America is an interdenominational church – a church with a distinctive ministry of service.
Known as a church without walls, Volunteers of America Michigan’s Ministry of Service provides hope and love through ministry support for all those we serve. We lead with love, faith, and service, shaping a better future for the neighbor in need, their family, and their community. We are committed to embracing and serving all people regardless of differences in culture, denomination, ethnicity, political affiliation, race, gender or sexual identity or socioeconomic status.
Working together, our committed employees, board members and volunteers can fulfill our mission and help our community thrive.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then, everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.”
– 1 Peter 4:10-11 NLT
