Our Vision for the Years Ahead
For more than a century, Volunteers of America Michigan has stood with Michigan’s veterans, seniors, families, and individuals in need.
What follows are our priorities for the future. Each step strengthens shelter, care, and opportunity for thousands across Michigan.
Our Priorities for the Future
Strengthen the services people rely on by expanding programs that support veterans, families, seniors, and individuals in need.
Support our team and leaders so everyone at VOA Michigan can do their best work.
Ensure we can keep helping for the long term by building sustainable funding and resources.
Grow housing, healthcare, and community programs to address the areas where people need us most.
As we continue building the next century of service, VOA Michigan is investing in projects that create long-term stability for individuals and lasting strength for our communities.
What’s Next: Projects Underway

Health2Home
Health2Home provides safe, stable housing and helps prevent avoidable health and crisis situations. Its goals include:
- Reducing preventable hospital visits by offering stable housing with supportive care
- Easing pressure on emergency services and shortening wait times for care
- Helping individuals avoid repeated cycles of crisis by offering consistent shelter, care, and follow up
This initiative reflects our commitment to long term stability and community well being.

St. Mary of Redford Supportive Housing
We are transforming a former Detroit school into new affordable housing with features designed to support those who need it most:
- 61 apartments including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units for people experiencing homelessness or high-priority housing need
- On-site support with household necessities, benefit enrollment, access to health and mental health resources, budgeting and employment help, and transportation support when needed
- A shared community space where residents can connect, build relationships, and access services restoring not just a building but a sense of home and belonging
These projects represent more than buildings. They are safe places, second chances, and hope for brighter futures.
Why This Matters
Safe housing, steady support, and caring communities change lives. They give families, seniors, and veterans a chance to rebuild. They bring stability at times when people need it most.
With your support, VOAMI will continue turning plans into real, lasting impact. Together, we can make sure more Michiganders find security, community, and a path forward now and in the future.
