When U.S. Air Force veteran and Detroit native Gaylord Jones found himself unable to renew his driver’s license because of unpaid fines and even discovered the state had mistakenly listed him as deceased, he turned to Volunteers of America Michigan and its legal advocacy partner, Street Democracy, for help.
Through the Homeless Court program, Jones was able to resolve his legal barriers and regain his independence. His journey is a powerful reminder of how collaboration and compassion can help veterans rebuild their lives.
