YOU GAVE this family A hand up in their time of need.
Meet Erica and her family, D’Andre, and their young daughter, Minty.
Erica and her now husband, D’Andre, met while serving in the Navy. They built a life together, earned their degrees, and were ready for their next chapter. But when the pandemic hit, everything they had worked for crumbled. Jobless and homeless, they lived in their car, delivering food just to afford a motel room for the night. For three years, they fought to survive, doing everything they could to care for their daughter.
When they reached out to family for help, they drove all the way from Dallas to Detroit—only to find that the support they were promised was no longer there.
That’s when YOU stepped in.
Because of the generosity of donors and sponsors like you, Volunteers of America Michigan was able to provide:
- A home, furnished and forever
- Job support to help D’Andre find work
- Furniture to turn a house into a home
- A fresh start for their daughter
Today, D’Andre works just two miles from their new home, and Minty is starting school with all new supplies and uniforms, and Erica started her own business to support other veterans. They never stopped believing they could make it through, and thanks to you, they did.
