Operation Backpack

For many children, the start of a new school year is filled with anxiety and academic challenges. Each year, thousands of children return to school unprepared, lacking the basic supplies they need to succeed. Volunteers of America Michigan’s Operation Backpack program provides low-income children returning to school with the basic supplies to thrive academically by reaching out to the local community for assistance in supplying at-risk low-income children with new backpacks and grade-appropriate education supplies.  Volunteers of America Michigan hopes to exceed last year's distribution of 1,200 supply-filled backpacks.

You can join together with Fox 2 Detroit, 96.3 WDVD, and Volunteers of America Michigan to ensure that low-income children return to school with all the supplies they need.

This year's Stuff-A-Bus will be August 2nd - 5th! Locations TBA.

Volunteers of America Michigan invites the public to support Michigan’s low-income children and their families by bringing a new backpack filled with school supplies to the Volunteers of America Michigan administration office (21415 Civic Center Drive, Suite 210, Southfield, MI 48076) until August 29th.

Thanks to supporters like you, Volunteers of America Michigan is making significant strides with the Operation Backpack 2012 campaign.  It’s our concerted effort to improve the scholastic achievement of underprivileged children throughout our communities.  And even as we see momentum, we know we must do even more this year compared to years past.

With the tumultuous state of Michigan’s economy, 2012 has already proven to be a challenging year for children throughout the state.  For underprivileged youth being properly prepared with back-to-school supplies is an unlikely prospect.

Volunteers of America Michigan hopes to exceed last year's distribution of 1,200 supply-filled backpacks, but we still need your help!

School supplies are still needed!

Donations will be collected at the Volunteers of America Michigan administration office (21415 Civic Center Drive, Suite 210, Southfield, MI 48076) through August 29th, 2011.
