Army veteran Troy Young reached a breaking point six years ago when life circumstances left him struggling to find stability. That’s when he connected with Volunteers of America Michigan, where he gained access to housing, employment, and mental-health programs tailored to help veterans rebuild their lives.
Within six months of enrolling, Troy successfully completed the programs and began a path toward long-term independence. His journey didn’t stop there. Inspired by the support he received, Troy joined the VOA Michigan team and now serves as the maintenance manager, helping others navigate the same challenges he once faced.
Troy’s story demonstrates how the right combination of guidance, resources, and encouragement can not only restore a veteran’s life but also empower them to give back and make a difference in their community.
