You gave Vickie a chance to belong and find acceptance
Vickie’s daughters can breathe a sigh of relief. They know that their mother is now living in a safe place and can have her needs met.
Feeling scared and worried, Vickie knew that she needed affordable housing that was also handicap-accessible, and she needed to find it fast. After driving around her neighborhood she found Partridge Creek and immediately put in an application.
At the beginning of 2019, Vickie and her dog, Sugar, moved into their new apartment. Vickie feels that this is the first place she’s ever lived that she has ever felt truly welcomed. “I have never felt a sense of acceptance like I have experienced here at VOA. Being a disabled person… you aren’t always accepted. Here I have been accepted, welcomed, and embraced.”
While growing up Vickie never experienced acceptance by her peers. She never had a place where she felt that she truly belonged and was welcomed. Once she moved to Partridge Creek, she knew that she had finally found the right place for her. “People are really helpful with opening doors both figuratively and literally. I can’t tell you what this place has meant to me.” She has found great comradery with the other residents and enjoys spending time with her new friends. She participates and enjoys many of the activities that are offered. “All of a sudden, I have found a group that I fit in with. “It’s like a miracle.”
