Volunteers of America Michigan has opened a new thrift store location in Saginaw, Michigan. The new store commemorated the occasion with a brief ceremony and ribbon cutting early in the morning prior to them opening for business for the first time. Customers were lined up, excited to see the new store. It is located in the former Gordman’s location at 5204 Bay Rd in Saginaw, in the Saginaw Square shopping center.
Attendance at the grand opening was high, customers enjoyed cotton candy and popcorn treats while looking for great deals. Residents from Volunteers of America Michigan’s Buena Vista Senior Community attended the opening and received $25 gift cards, free haircuts and a meal voucher to purchase lunch. The community came together and helped VOA celebrate including STARS, Woody’s Hot Dogs, Olveras BBQ and Carlos Cuts.
When asked their first reaction to the store, a customer responded “I love it, it is so clean.” And another customer said “I think it is great, I am finding lots of great things”.
Customers will have access to 27,000 square feet of shopping for clothing, linens, pots and pans, bedding, household goods, furniture and more. Most importantly: all of the proceeds from the store will go to support programs for homeless veterans, aging seniors, and struggling families in Michigan.
The location will allow for donation drop-offs, and will even offer pickup in the surrounding area. To schedule a pickup, call 866-333-8281.
Volunteers of America Thrift Stores are well known in the mid-Michigan area with five other locations, and the “Take Half-Off Tuesday” sale that is held the last Tuesday of each month. The new Saginaw store will hold their first Take Half-Off Tuesday sale in September.
