Volunteers of America Michigan honored those who served with its annual Veterans Day event in Detroit, bringing together veterans, staff, and community partners for a morning of reflection and connection. Attendees shared stories of service and resilience, including Air Force veteran Lamont English, who found stability and support through VOA Michigan after facing loss, and Army veteran Gary Conley, who now helps other veterans access essential care.
The event also recognized the community partners who make VOA Michigan’s mission possible, including The Sam Bernstein Law Firm and Darren McCarty’s Operation Valhalla, which together helped raise $100,000 for local veterans.
