YOU HELPED TONI KEEP MOVING FORWARD

U.S. Army veteran Toni Gordon made an impossible choice: selling her car just to continue pursuing her PhD. Living with PTSD and facing financial strain, she sacrificed her independence to keep moving forward with her education.

That’s when Volunteers of America Michigan, Pat Milliken Ford, Allstate, and the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program stepped in with a life-changing surprise. When Toni was presented with a fully refurbished vehicle, years of struggle gave way to tears of relief and hope. “They didn’t just give me a car,” she said. “They gave me something that will last.”

A GATHERING PLACE AT DELTA RIVER

This past June, volunteers from The Home Depot (stores #2758, #2727, and #2706) brought their time, talent, and hearts to Delta River Senior Village. Working side by side throughout the day, the team assembled a stunning new gazebo in the courtyard, placed fresh mulch around the structure, set up comfortable benches and patio chairs, and installed a brand-new grill for the community to enjoy.

The Home Depot volunteers didn’t just donate materials—they transformed an empty courtyard into an inviting outdoor space where seniors can enjoy fresh air, connect with neighbors, and spend time together. Their generosity created a beautiful gathering place that will bring joy to Delta River’s residents for years to come. To The Home Depot Foundation and every volunteer who made this project possible: thank you for making a lasting difference in our community.

BACKPACKS, HAIRCUTS, AND HOPE AT THE DETROIT ZOO

This year you helped us reimagine OperationBackpack® by creating Backpacks 4 You in partnership with The Detroit Zoo, where families, volunteers, sponsors, and friends joined the incredible experience.

Each child left with a backpack stuffed with school supplies, books from The Molina Foundation, a haircut voucher from Douglas J Salon, and a free Zoo ticket to come back and play.

But here’s what really mattered: 901 kids walked out of the Zoo ready. And across all our Operation Backpack® efforts this year, we reached 2,800 students total.

Ready to learn. Ready to succeed. Ready for their best year yet.

Thanks to you.

Volunteers of America Michigan President and CEO, Aubrey Macfarlane, wanted to say thank you…

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we welcome a new year filled with promise, we pause to honor the remarkable impact we had together throughout 2025.

Because of your compassion and generosity, Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) continued to stand beside individuals and families across our state. Together, we supported veterans on their path to stability, prepared children for success with essential school supplies, and ensured older adults could remain safe and independent in the comfort of their homes. Each act of support has strengthened Michigan lives—and strengthened our communities.

This past year reminded us once again of the extraordinary power of people coming together. For 129 years, VOA Michigan has been built on the foundation of community partnership, and your support in 2025 has continued this proud legacy. Your partnership has been the driving force behind every milestone, every restored hope, and every brighter tomorrow.

As we look forward, we are energized and inspired by what we can continue to achieve side by side.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for all you made possible in 2025. Here’s to the progress we’ve made and the even greater impact we will create in the year ahead.

With gratitude,

Aubrey Macfarlane
