Spiritual gifts

As her hands deftly tie the tight knots needed to make the Armed Forces Holy Rosary, Virginia Grecu -- mother of four, grandmother of four, great-grandmother of two -- is trying to give back in what she calls her own "little" way.

But there is nothing little about the impact of her work. Virginia has created hundreds of the rosaries, primarily for people who have dedicated their lives providing safety and security for the country. But she also provides them as spiritual gifts to the homeless, the ill, and anyone who asks.

Recently she provided dozens of the rosaries to be given away at the annual Veterans Tribute organized by Volunteers of America Michigan. Her dedication and efforts were recognized by a certificate presentation at VOA offices in Lansing.

With family members standing by at VOA offices, Virginia humbly accepted the Certificate of Appreciation from Volunteers of America Michigan Executive Vice President Patrick Patterson. Gathering for the presentation, as seen in the photo above with Mrs. Grecu front and center, were, from left, her grandson John McGraw; son-in-law Kevin McGraw (chair of the VOAMI Lansing Committee); Patterson; daughter Sharon McGraw and son David Greely.
