Volunteers of America Michigan has two programs for homeless veterans, the Veterans Dormitory Program Program (VDP) and the Veterans Housing Program (VHP). With nearly 1 in 3 homeless men an armed services veteran, these programs offer assistance to many each year.  Eighty percent of those recover to independent living within the six months of time available.

The Veterans Dormitory Program (VDP) is a 6 month program that is open to both male and female veterans.  This program offers all of the services of New Hope plus the assistance of the Veteran’s Case Manager and the physical and mental health services of the VA Medical Hospitals.

The Veterans Housing Program (VHP) has greatly expanded housing and other community resources to a significantly underserved population. Veterans may participate in the program for 18 months and are offered the following services: Case management, individual and group counseling, referrals for substance abuse and medical treatment, budgeting assistance, job interviewing and placement and anger management. Upon graduation, aftercare services are offered for 6 months.

These services are being provided in collaboration with Battle Creek VA. All veteran's program participants may utilize services of the New Hope Day Center.
